'Breath of Life' by Mother Agency

Introducing Mother Agency’s latest offering; an echo of mythological lore, that nods to how the gods sculpted humanity from clay.Mother exists to nurture a family of models, designers and artists to create and celebrate art. This marks another wave in a pulsing sea of expression.
Chi Trinh Linh is a sculptor and model with little to prove and much to say. Her main practice is devoted to mirroring the human form. Taking traditional practices used by classical Greek and Italian masters, Chi applies these techniques in the contemporary space. In this way she shapes the human form with style and precision, telling stories through anatomy. It is only natural that she played the role of a goddess to shape humanity from clay. Her work ‘Mother’ casts fifteen faces of the agency, crystalising their creation in a dark bronze.
Alex Albrecht is music producer and label head of Melbourne’s Analog Attic. Alex blessed the ears of the crowd at Breath’s release with a live set, and further through an original composition of the motion piece. This sonic expression nodded to works of early Italian experimental artists Raul Lovosini and Francesco Messina (circa Milan, 1979). Albrecht echoed this classic minimalism, while naturally bringing us into his world of atmospheric ambience. Take in this composition alongside the visual narrative.
This work was captured on 16mm motion film in Mother’s Collingwood studio. Complemented by flora by Kayla Moons, Xflos. Behind the camera, filmmakers Harry Crean and Chris Martin.
Harry’s connection to te ao Maori, was the seed to this concept; which grew on discovery that variations of lore has been told historically across many cultures, spanning Aboriginal creational stories, ancient Greek mythology, biblical stories and Chinese folklore.
Jesper continues this expression through stills photography, capturing the creation process of Chi’s work, merging elements of human and earth matter. This offering was released to the world at an event last Sunday 1 December. Complimented by sonic selections of Ed Kent and friends.
